We were the Thirteen Original States, Maine Territory (Basically the state of maine but the northern border was disputed with the British), Northwest Territory (The Heartland and Illinois), Mississippi Territory (Mississippi and Alabama), Tennesee Territory and Kentucky Territory (Both the actual sizes of the states)

Vermont was its own country Vermont Republic which was allied with the US, but was granted representation in Congress.

West Virginia was part of Virginia.
